Solomon Islands - Islands Lost in Time

The Solomon Islands are a remote and untouched travel destination, scattered in the southwestern Pacific, east of Papua New Guinea and just a 4 hour flight from Fiji. Guadalcanal, Malaita, Choiseul, New Georgia, San Cristobal and Santa Isabel are the main islands. Honiara, the capital, is located on Guadalcanal and has a museum, botanical gardens and its own Chinatown. There are an abundance of picturesque villages and scenic drives are within easy reach. Popular tours include the World War II battlefields and various carving villages on the islands of Rennell and Bellona.

There are six major and approximately 992 minor islands, atolls and reefs. The spectacular marine life in the surrounding waters makes the islands an excellent destination for cruising, fishing and diving. The walls, reefs, pinnacles and coral gardens of the Solomon Islands support an amazing diversity and quantity of sea creatures.
